This is a shout out for my favorite 80s movies scores / soundtracks, inspired by Bundeswehr. Off the top, in no particular order . . . 

• The Cars from Fast Times (first time I really noticed an entire soundtrack)
• Vangelis from Risky Business, The Year of Living Dangerously, and Blade Runner (Dude was busy. No thanks on the Chariots of Fire though, sorry)
• Journey from Vision Quest 
• The Payolas from Valley Girl (Everybody expects I Melt With You, but seriously? Major yawn)
• Purple Rain. Duh.
• Thompson Twins from Sixteen Candles (ouch! my teenage heart)
• David Byrne from The Last Emperor
• Pete Seeger / Carter Burwell from Raising Arizona. And Ode to Joy!

And really, since we're on the subject, Carter Burwell = musical genius. Miller's Crossing, Fargo, all of O Brother, for starters. Much love.
