We talked with D about the importance of helping those in need, particularly now "because it is at Christmastime that want is most keenly felt, and abundance rejoices." (Geema name that tune) Here's how that conversation went:

Mama and Daddy: We are very lucky. Other babies in our town are not as lucky, and will not have presents this Christmas. It would be very nice to help the poor babies by sharing our toys.
D: That's too sad!
Mama and Daddy: Yes, it's very sad that there are poor people in our town.
D: NO! It's too sad to share my stuff!! (tears ensue)
Forgivable from a toddler having his first experience with the concept of charity. We were a little worried how things were going to go. But today our sweet boy joyfully picked out a box full of his things to donate. He and Daddy are off to Goodwill, hopefully with plenty of time for our well loved toys to be under someone else's tree. Best Christmas ever!
